This settlement south of North Ockendon in the Thurrock borough of Essex lies on the border with Greater London, just outside the M25 motorway. South Ockendon village hosted prefabricated houses for residents from East London and West Essex who's houses were destroyed during the second world war in the 1940s. In the 1960s a Greater London Council estate, the Flowers' Estate, replaced them with superior pre-fabricated dwellings. Alternatively, the 100 acre Brandon Groves Estate features lawns, walks and miles of tree-lined, paved roads. The M25 London Orbital Motorway bypasses the vicinity.
