Five Essex towns included in top 20 commuter spots for 2017

Five of Essex’s most well-known towns have been identified as top commuter hot spots for 2017. With great access to London and more affordable housing than some of their counterparts in other home counties, these towns have been highlighted as some of the most popular places to live.

With jobs in London still providing the most lucrative salaries, living within easy reach of the capital has always been a bonus but many of these commuter locations are now exceptional place to live in their own right.

With their popularity no longer solely driven by their proximity to London, these towns have become increasingly desirable places to live with great facilities and amenities that have drawn people to choose these areas on their own merit.

Findings from homes and property.co.uk have revealed that Basildon, Grays, Dartford, Brentwood, and Chelmsford all command positions in the top 20 most popular commuter towns.

At number 16 in the list and with a 34 minute journey time and an average house price of £328,291  is Chelmsford. With a slightly longer commuter time and a more expensive average house price of £506,364, Brentwood takes the 14th spot. Dartford occupies the 6th most popular spot and creeping up the popularity stakes, Grays takes the number 5 spot with 35 minute journey time to London and an average house price of £255,066. The most popular Essex down is Baslidon which has an average house price of just £241,916 and a journey time of 35 minuites.

All in all Essex is a county of choice for many of London’s commuters and these towns are set to rise in popularity in the foreseeable future.
